  • Egypt Migrations

    Leila began her involvement with Egypt Migrations, a public humanities non-profit, as an oral history intern in June 2021. As of October 2021, she became the editor and outreach specialist. She now manages and edits their submissions.

  • Iranian Students of California

    In March 2020, Leila and a few of her peers at various universities got together and co-founded the Iranian Students of California, a non-profit organization founded to connect students of Iranian heritage. They helped link 17 student organizations across major universities in California and started mentorship programs and speaker series across different fields of study.

  • Association for Iranian Studies

    Leila served on the AIS Council in 2021 as a graduate student member. As a council member, she served on the nominating committee and co-hosted informational sessions, entitled “Presidential Sessions”, tailored toward the academic betterment of students in the field of Iranian Studies.

  • The Orfalea Center for Global and International Studies

    Leila began her involvement with the Orfalea Center ever since she started her doctoral studies at UCSB. In summer 2020, she was accepted as a research fellow in the “Transnationalizing the Study of the United States” research cluster, where she created archives and databases, conducted research and published original content, and coordinated events and conferences.

  • Middle Eastern Studies Association

    Member since 2018 and continuous presenter and panel orgizner at annual conference.

  • International Studies Association

    Member since 2021.

  • Society of Global Scholars

    Leila was elected as the SGS President in 2017. During her tenure, she co-organized a student-led international conference on Alter-Globalizations.

  • American Associational for University Women

    Member since 2020.
